What is included
Determining the causes of drafts: sash adjustment, seals, hardware, geometry, installation joint, junctions, window reveals and window sill.
The inspection takes account of the order documents: the contract, specifications, measurement sheet, information about profiles, insulating glazing units, hardware and installation work, records and correspondence.
What is checked
- profiles, frame, sashes, geometry and sash compression;
- the insulating glazing unit, cracks, seal integrity and fogging;
- seals, handles, hinges, locking components and hardware;
- the installation joint, fixings, sealing and junctions;
- window reveals, window sill, external sill flashing and drainage;
- causes of drafts, freezing, condensation and leaks;
- compliance with the contract, specifications and agreed characteristics.
Pricing
from RUB 25,000. The final price depends on the number of windows, the nature of the defects, the need for a site visit, the volume of documents and the form of the final report.
How the source of a draft complaint is localized
The examination starts by relating the complaint to a specific window and area: the sash-to-frame joint, frame joint or junction with the window reveal, window sill or external sill flashing. It records when air movement is felt and whether it depends on sash position, wind or ventilation operation. A general feeling of cold near the window and an established air leak require separate descriptions.
During the inspection, the sash position, condition of seals and hardware, geometry of accessible components and junctions are compared. If instrument-based methods are used, the measurement points, conditions and results are recorded in the materials. The mere inclusion of an instrument in the equipment list does not explain which question its reading has resolved.
Before adjustment and repair
- Mark the window on a plan or an overall photograph of the room.
- Mark where the reported problem occurs and note the available information about the conditions.
- Provide requests for previous adjustments and a description of the work performed.
- Retain photographs of junctions taken before applying additional sealants or reworking window reveals.
It is advisable to plan the inspection with regard to which signs will remain after intervention. If adjustment has already been carried out, it is necessary to know exactly what was changed and how the window operated beforehand. The conclusion separately states observed product defects, signs of installation defects and circumstances that require access to concealed areas for verification. The cause of the complaint must not be predetermined from the single most noticeable component.
